HVAC dimensions and units guide
Label face, opening, neck and overall dimensions clearly so your product schedule describes the intended installation.
Name the dimension before the number
A size written as width by height can describe several different parts of an HVAC component. On your sketch, label the visible face, installation opening, duct or neck connection and overall depth separately. For a circular product, identify whether the diameter refers to the face or connection. Keep the same dimension order throughout the schedule, and connect each sketch to a BOQ line item. This helps the supplier understand what the numbers describe before discussing construction.
Keep units and revisions visible
Write the unit beside each size or in a clearly labelled schedule column. If an existing document mixes millimetres and inches, retain the source value and mark any conversion as a reference for review. Do not round a measurement simply to match a catalogue format. Note the drawing number and revision used for the enquiry. If site measurements differ from a drawing, show both and ask the project team which should govern the final selection.
Separate geometry from selection
Include mounting orientation, available depth, operating access and nearby obstructions where these affect the arrangement. For curved or irregular components, attach a dimensioned drawing rather than relying on a photograph. An area calculation can help organise a schedule, but it does not establish airflow, pressure drop, sound or suitability. Send the project selection requirements separately and request a final coordinated drawing before the product dimensions are confirmed for ordering.
Before you contact SKYRO
- Label face, opening, connection and overall depth separately.
- State units and a consistent width, height and depth order.
- Identify each size with its BOQ line and quantity.
- Include drawing revision and any conflicting site measurement.
- Mark mounting, access and unusual geometry on a sketch.

Useful answers before you enquire.
Is a grille face size the same as its duct size?
They can describe different parts. Label both on the drawing and ask SKYRO to confirm the proposed face, opening and connection arrangement.
Should I convert every inch measurement to millimetres?
Keep the original dimension and its unit. If you add a conversion, label it clearly and confirm the dimension used for manufacture.
What if the opening has already been built?
Include the measured opening, depth, photographs and the relevant drawing. Mark differences and obtain project confirmation before agreeing the product size.
Can I send a photograph with a tape measure?
It can provide context. Add a labelled sketch with dimensions and units because perspective can make a photograph difficult to interpret.
Does face area determine the required airflow?
No. Share the design airflow and other selection criteria separately so the project team can assess the proposed component using applicable product information.
